Fortect VPN Performance, Bandwidth, and Speed
Fortect VPN is engineered for fast, reliable, and private connections. Like any VPN, you may see a small speed drop because your traffic is encrypted and routed through a secure server. Use the tips below to keep that impact minimal and get the smoothest browsing, streaming, and gaming experience.
What really affects VPN speed
- Server distance – The closer the VPN server is to you, the lower the latency.
- Server load – Heavy traffic on a popular location can slow everyone down.
- Protocol choice – WireGuard is the fastest; OpenVPN (TCP) is the most firewall-friendly but a bit slower.
- Base ISP speed – A VPN can’t exceed whatever your internet provider delivers.
- Device horsepower – Very old CPUs may struggle to encrypt data at high rates.
How to keep your VPN running fast
- Pick the nearest server first. If you need a specific region for streaming, test a few nearby cities.
- Avoid peak hours. If a server feels sluggish, change to another with lower load.
- Close background downloads and heavy apps while gaming or on a video call.
- Restart the VPN or your device if speeds drop suddenly—this resets the tunnel and flushes stale network routes.
- Keep Fortect up to date. Each release includes speed optimizations and new server locations.
Check your Usage stats
