Getting Started with Fortect VPN

George Picardal

Fortect VPN is built into the main Fortect dashboard, so you don’t need a separate installer. You’ll find its VPN tab on the left-hand panel. Follow the steps below to turn it on, pick a server, and understand what every indicator means.

Enabling/Disable the VPN

  1. Open VPN in the sidebar.
  2. Click the Power button.
  3. Green = Connected Red = Disconnected

Tip: If you only need the VPN for banking or streaming, toggle it on for that session and turn it off when you’re done.

Choose Your Connection Type

Option When to use it
Fastest Connection One-click mode that picks the nearest, least-loaded server for maximum speed.
Choose Location Manually select a country/region to unlock local pricing, bypass geo-blocks, or access home services while abroad.

After connecting, the header will read “Connected to <City, Country>” and show the VPN-assigned IP.

Read the Live Indicators

Located directly under the connection header:

  • Upload / Download rate – real-time throughput in Mb/s.
  • Session timer – how long the tunnel has been active (hh:mm:ss).
  • IP display – your real IP disappears; the new VPN IP is shown for quick verification.

These at-a-glance stats confirm the VPN is working and help you spot unusual slow-downs early.

Use Smart Auto-Connect

VPN Auto-Connect Options

Setting What it does How to enable
Auto-connect on Startup Boots Windows → VPN connects before other apps start talking to the internet. VPN ► Auto-Connect at Startup → Toggle ON
Auto-connect on Insecure Wi-Fi Detects open / WEP hotspots and secures them automatically. VPN ► Settings ► Insecure Wi-Fi → Toggle ON

Use both for hands-off protection when travelling or working in cafés. You can still pause the VPN manually at any time.
